The detail of our analysis in this article.
Lifebook A555 the right choice for surfing the internet?
Even if your use is limited to surfing the Web, writing e-mails and sometimes using an Excel spreadsheet, the minimum computer quality is essential. This laptop will ensure that the tasks you perform will be reliable and trouble-free for years to come.A fairly powerful multi-processor, but one that won’t require you to take out a credit to pay for it.You only have to take it in your hand to see that the material is of quality.
By putting on the market the Lifebook A555, Fujitsu offers a well thought-out product of very good quality.
It’s a big screen that you have: 15.6 inches that will be less easily transported compared to an ultra book. With a processor Intel Core i5-5200U, Fujitsu offers an already outdated technology. Indeed, this processor is starting to date compared to what is on the market today. For a few euros more, it is possible to switch to more powerful processors. So certainly, with this laptop you have enough resources for internet surfing and word processing, but you may have to change it in less than 5 years. With 8 Gb of RAM, it Lifebook A555is a good product. Even if it has free slots in which you can add memory strips, it’s more than enough to get you started.
With its 256 Gb of hard disk, you are within the average of other computers. In any case, it should be enough for a use like surfing the web. Fujitsu comes with this Lifebook A555 a laptop that you’ll keep for a few years before it becomes obsolete.
Additional point concerning autonomy: 6 hours of tranquility. You will have a limited time of freedom, needing to have the power kit nearby. It would be more interesting for the same price, to buy a desktop or a tablet, more powerful on the part autonomy and web surfing.
Lifebook A555 the right choice for watching movies ?
High quality, the engineers of Fujitsu have chosen to make this Lifebook A555 the top of the range for leisure uses: movies, music, photos. You will benefit from an unparalleled comfort of use. Among all the laptops of the moment, it appeared to us as one of the best for multimedia use. In this section we will look at features such as screen size, resolution, built-in speakers.
Fujitsu presents this model in a large size version. A 15.6 inches screen, and a resolution of 1366×768 make it one of the great products available on the market at the moment. This model has a wide screen that will be essential for viewing your movies and streaming video. Very good quality rendering, both in brightness and image detail.
The only disadvantage of this size, however, is the weight: here you have a laptop of 2.4 kg.
Unfortunately, the screen of this model is not provided with a glossy finish. On the other hand, it will be annoying for regular use in a dark room. It will be more delicate to perfectly distinguish the images without getting tired.
In short, you’ll prefer this finish for daytime movie viewing.
As far as sound is concerned, the card equipment and speakers have been integrated into this Lifebook A555. By pushing the volume with music, we tested the rendering. Despite good quality, you won’t get the same sound level as with a decent set of external speakers. If necessary, you can later supplement with external elements if you consider the results too insufficient.
Even if the use of this laptop does not require the latest generation of processor, be aware that it Intel Core i5-5200U is now outdated. The result will be higher electricity consumption and less quiet than in recent generations. Still, it may be enough for multimedia use, as long as you only run one application at the same time.
Equipped with the Radeon R7 M26 graphic card, and with 8 Gb of RAM, you will be able to see your movies and even do photo editing if needed. This will obviously be a bit light if you want to do 3D imaging, but will suit your needs.
Concerning the connections, this model has available 3 ports. That makes it one with the biggest number of ports compared to what’s on the market right now. You will be able to connect all your peripherals to it.
As for battery life, it Lifebook A555 can allow you to have a multimedia use in nomadic mode. 6 hours of battery life is enough for the vast majority of the videos you’ll see.
Lifebook A555 compatible with on the move use ?
Easier to transport than a desktop computer, it is not intended for travelling. This seems to be the issue that the Fujitsu didn’t really take into account in the design of this Lifebook A555. It only fits in a computer bag dedicated to its size, and if you decide to take it in your suitcase, it will be at the expense of clothes, it is so big.
In other words, leave it at home and only take it for occasional short trips.
It is one of the heaviest laptops in its class, with 2.4 Kg. It’s complicated when you have to transport it. If you use it on your lap, you will find that it is cumbersome. The reason for that ? The size of the screen. Its weight is a disadvantage, but the15.6 inches screen will make it an advantage when writing e-mails or doing word processing.
No backlit keyboard on this Lifebook A555. Not really necessary.
Good image definition although the slab is not shiny. The screen shows an interesting result.
This model offers a pleasant user comfort. The image is beautiful, and with its anti-reflective matt tile, no more problems even outdoors.
At the same time, the laptop processor Intel Core i5-5200U is struggling; in terms of power it does less well than its competitors, and consumes a lot of energy.
The result is a poorer autonomy. This figure is an estimate and consider instead that you will have 70% of this autonomy.
An autonomy of 6 hours allows this model to average what the competitors do.
In order to reduce the risk of breakage while on the move, this model is equipped with a 256 Gb SSD hard drive. The main advantage of this type of hard drive is that it contains fewer moving parts and is faster than standard drives. With SSD technology, however, you benefit from a considerable improvement in the time it takes your notebook to start up and get out of standby mode. And if you absolutely need more storage, you can buy an external drive, or take out a cloud account.
When away on business, your laptop will mostly stay at the hotel. Its size does not invite you to carry it everywhere you go. Indeed, because of its size, 15.6 inches, you have there, one of the largest laptops of the moment.
At the connector level, this model provides 3 inputs. It is thus at the top of the ranking, compared with other laptops on the market.
With the bluetooth functionality of this model you can also simply connect with your loved ones’ devices.
Finally with the Lifebook A555, Fujitsu deliver us a laptop at a tight price but not intended for travelliing, or as an exception.
The Lifebook A555 to make audio or video editing.
If you’re serious about editing and creating music, then you pay a lot of attention to processor speed and memory. It appears that this Lifebook A555meets this need perfectly. Since the last generation designed by Fujitsu, there have been many improvements on the components. It is a laptop designed for multitasking presented with Windows 7 Pro, which will allow to manage at the same time the audio-video applications consuming calculations.
The components and applications of this laptop are for basic use. It is possible to edit, but it is not the task that the processor Intel Core i5-5200U does best. You’ll soon discover that the processor lacks power and memory.
This model contains an SSD for the operating system and backup part. However, for audiovisual use, we would have preferred a dual-disk system: a large-capacity hard disk for backup, and an SSD for speed of execution. The Lifebook A555 allows a price reduction with this choice, with an available space of 256 Gb. It is nevertheless one of the good laptops in terms of storage, compared to its competitors.
For the autonomy part, Fujitsu proposes last generation batteries. The available battery life is of 6 hours in standard conditions of use, which means keeping the charger close at hand because the audio-visual assembly consumes a lot of power. A result in the average of the competitors.
On the connection side, the Lifebook A555i s equipped with USB 3 technology. The latest convenient protocol for interfacing computers and electronic devices such as external hard drives. In addition, this technology offers a better rate of high-speed file transfer between your laptop and external drives.
It Lifebook A555 is consequently well designed for this type of use. And much more if you finally decide to use it only for word processing or web browsing, instead of audio video editing. In summary an excellent choice in this price range.
The Lifebook A555- the right model to play with?
Laptops, thanks to the rise in performance of processors and graphics cards, allow some people to gamble. The tests we ran showed that the choices of Fujitsu in terms of components – the chip, the processor generation, or the quality of cooling – make this an average laptop for gaming. On the other hand, if you have to go through several hours, these same components will seem weak.
With only 1366×768, this model is below standard ones. This results in lower image quality when you are in game mode.
Each year the power of the components increases, so this model is now far behind the others. After our analysis, it appears that use in game mode generates processor overheating and degradations in terms of images and colors. Finally, if you want to play often, we recommend a model with more power.
Since Fujitsu has not designed this model for gaming, the display system is not dimensioned for an exemplary reactivity during your gaming sessions. Unless you play games with designs older than 5-10 years.
With its 256 Gb of space, this Lifebook A555 is on a level playing field with its competitors. A feature that interested those, and there are still many, who want to install and play locally.
The Wi-Fi technology of this model has wifi with 5GHz band, which facilitates online gaming. Interesting when you can play outside with full broadband.
You will limit your travels with this laptop; the cause? Its weight of 2.4 Kg which makes it one of the biggest on the market.
For the autonomy, it is in the average of the other laptops, that is to say about 6 hours.
It Lifebook A555 is finally an interesting compromise for those who want performance without spending too much on the purchase. And if necessary, you can use it for internet browsing and e-mail.
The Lifebook A555 for office automation.
Which operating system to choose? In fact, there are no bad choices any more today. The OSes available on the market are all different technical ecosystems with their own applications. This Lifebook A555 is clearly intended for those who will use it for office use.
Here, this model runs under a standard OS. In this case, it is Windows 7 Pro.
Given its size, it is not advisable to be taken away too often. Note that with its 2.4 Kg it is one of the heaviest.
For office use, chances are that the absence of the numeric keypad will annoy you over time. As soon as you’ll have to do calculations on a spreadsheet, it will be less simple.
Fujitsu chose the matt tile option for thisLifebook A555 that does not reflect light. The colour palette is of good quality; blacks and whites do not look like yellow and grey.
Under normal conditions of use, i.e. during the day, you will have no difficulty with the absence of a backlit keyboard.
As far as storage goes, this computer’s in the average. It’s 256 Gb available, perfect for office use, but maybe tight for recording movies.
Clearly, this is an excellent one in this price range. The right choice for anyone who wants an efficient computer.
Finally, the Lifebook A555….
There is no such thing as a perfect laptop for every purpose, unless you put a price tag on it, and keep in mind that it will be too powerful for most of your needs. The Lifebook A555 corresponds to a product that is certainly average, but still effective.
